“You have to decide what your highest priorities are and then have the courage – pleasantly, smilingly, unapologetically- to say ‘no’ to other things. And the way to do that is by having a bigger ‘yes’ burning inside”. ~Stephen Covey
What I love about this quote is that it stresses the importance of saying no to those things that don’t align with who you are, what you do, or what your purpose is. Saying no is not easy. In fact, it’s one thing I struggle with quite a bit. However,
just as Stephen Covey says, having the bigger burning yes, or the bigger purpose inside, will help you know when to say no.
This week’s inspirational activity:
Do you have a bigger yes inside you that helps you assess when to say yes and when to say no? If not, spend some time getting clear on your reason for being, your purpose, why you feel passionate about doing certain things versus others. This can and will keep you aligned with doing things that are most meaningful to you and your life. It will also make it crystal clear when to say yes to opportunities and when to, unapologetically and politely, say
no.
