You will all remember The Karen Wilson Story from last summer -- YES? It was a great and fun write-up. And her husband came for 2 weeks to take her spot after she left. We named her story:

Now, I never did write up the husband's story. So I will give you a quick rundown of that here. The husband arrived very lean with no fat reserves to spare. He had never done a 10-day Correct Natural Hygiene Fast before. He had never even heard of "Natural Hygiene" before. He had never seen 2 BOOKS IN 1: The Health Seeekers' YearBook with The Best of Common Health Sense or The Live Food Factor before. He was in great shape, as he did a lot of hard, physical labor in the great outdoors. And his life was full of Nurturing Relationships. Karen had already taken care of a really good food supply at her homestead, as her story reveals. In other words, the husband was already doing most of The 10 Energy Enhancers most of the time. And it showed! But when Karen checked herself in for a 2-week tune-up, she was smart enough to do the same for the husband. That way, when they reunited, both rested and fasted and self-educated from Our Hygiene Homestead Library, they could go forward together and continue making great progress! SMART, YOUNG HEALTH SEEKERS ARE THESE 2 HAPPY PEOPLE!

With so few reserves, I wasn't sure the husband would even make it through 10 days. But he did. And we often engaged in long talks during his visit. The unusual thing about this man was that he told me before he left: "I have done more reading in the last 2 weeks than in the last 10 years!" I was amazed! I had never seen anything quite like it. The 3rd day into his fast and his reading of  2 BOOKS IN 1: The Health Seeekers' YearBook with The Best of Common Health Sense, he told me: "This should be taught in all our public schools to all the children from grade school through high school!" I directed him to Chapter 12 where the history of Natural Hygiene and its economics and politics are detailed. He read that and then had many, many questions. So we spent long sessions out on the back deck off The Howling Wolves' Den during the Indian Summer October, and I kept answering these questions throughout his visit. What struck me was his great interest in the personalities behind all these teachings and not just the teachings themselves. Most only care about the teachings. So, I directed this inquisitive soul to Dr. Shelton's biography Yours for Health -- The Life and Time of Dr. Herbert Shelton and to the book by Dr. Vetrano that is basically a biography of T.C. Fry and that tells of his demise titled Errors in Hygiene!?!? The Demise of T.C. Fry. (I carry both these books if you should want them.) And of course, now being a pioneer at age 66, I had many stories to tell and enjoyed giving the comic versions, although at the time, some were not so very hilarious at the time -- believe me! I never did turn this man loose in The Dr. Vetrano Library at The HighJoy Homestead to get swept away by the thousand mid-1800s' to mid-1900s' works by the beginning pioneers in Natural Hygiene! After all, he was fasting! He was supposed to be resting and sleeping!

I bring Karen and her husband up as I prepare to share with you my outrageously delicious Recipe Formula for "INSTEAD-OF-YOGURT" because each of these 2 had their first taste of this recipe and went WILD WITH TASTEBUD EXCITEMENT! With Karen? After breaking her fast of 10 days, I brought Karen in some of my blackberry concoction I had been making for a long time just for myself. We had little cups and little spoons and started in on this "blackberry pudding." But when Karen tasted it, she was in shock! She could not get out of her head how good it was -- AND HOW IT TASTED JUST LIKE, FELT ON THE TONGUE JUST LIKE, SMELLED JUST LIKE, LOOKED JUST LIKE, SPOONED UP JUST LIKE YOGURT! I had never thought about this yummy, little concoction being "just like fruit-flavored yogurt" because in my pre-Hygiene years, I did not like the stuff and never ate it. I would sometimes have the plain yogurt, however, but never made its connection with my fruit-flavored concoction! Then? The night her husband checked into Karen's room, after she had headed down the highway, that is, the night before he started his 10-day fast, I brought a pint glass jar of the same concoction, kind of a "last supper," for him to enjoy as he got used to his new digs for 2 weeks. WOW! THE NEXT DAY, HE RAVED TO ME HOW GOOD IT WAS! AND THROUGHOUT HIS FAST, HE REMINDED ME, STARRY-EYED, TO BRING HIM SOME MORE WHEN HE BROKE HIS FAST! I know what a hit my Beverage-Tasting Parties are! Now, we must have YOGURT TASTING PARTIES, too!

Soft fruit + Fruit Juice + Nuts + Lemon or Lime Juice
 
OUR OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS
INSTEAD-OF-YOGURT FORMULA WITH OPTIONALS:
Soft fruit + Tart Fruit Juice + Nuts + Lemon or Lime Juice + 1 or More of Tiny, Tiny Amounts of Optionals: Ginger, Scallions, Garlic, Dill, Other Herbs of Choice
 
DIRECTIONS FOR MAKING
OUR OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS
INSTEAD-OF-YOGURT:
Start with a soft fruit such as mango, papaya, or strawberries in your VITA-MIX. Then add just enough of a fruit juice and small amounts of your chosen nuts or seeds to make a thick pudding consistency once VITA-MIXed. Then add the lemon and/or lime or both. THAT'S IT! That is enough to make a divine yogurt. Something about the nuts and the tart lemon and/or lime that gives the yogurt flavor. But if that flavor is not yogurty enough, then add tiny, tiny amounts of the "Optionals" listed above or some of your own "Optionals." Remember: the nuts/seeds and the soft fruit will thicken a too-thin Instead-of-Yogurt. And the lemon and/or lime juice and fruit juice will thin out a too thick Instead-of-Yogurt. Experiment... Enjoy... HAVE FUN!
 
 
SO... WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS KAREN WILSON & HUSBAND RECIPE? It was so simple. It followed the formula perfectly.
