Dear friends, clients, and other beautiful
people who read this newsletter:
This email is not urgent.
It's a read-anytime, whenever-you-feel-like-it kinda thing.
I wanted to give an update on what's been happening in 2022 so far.
Here's what I've been up to lately...
- I finished writing my seventh book which is called Marketing Without Social Media. It will be released by One Idea Press. This is a book about how to quit social media and still have a successful career and business. You can prosper without being glued to your phone—and without hurting your mental health.
- I'm working on another book—a passion project called Never Miss a Sunset. It's a collection of essays with the greatest life lessons that I have learned from my mom. (Hi mom, if you're reading. Love you.)
- I made a workbook called 10 Step to Excellent Writing which is free. Do you want to write something that is very clear, intentional, and makes a difference in readers' lives? This is for you.
- Would you like to write a book especially for your kids or grandkids? To share advice, life lessons, or love letters from the heart? My business partner Lindsey and I made a workbook on How to Create Legacy
Book. It's free, too. Enjoy.
- I recently finished up a series of writing projects for one of my all-time favorite clients, a company called Hello Seven. Their mission is to teach people how to earn more money and build financial security—particularly women, people of color,
LGBTQIA+ people, and other communities that tend to struggle financially due to unfair systems in our society. It's always so inspiring to work with the Hello Seven team. I always learn so much. Definitely check out their podcast, blog, upcoming events, and club.
- I got hired to do a very exciting writing project for a new company that is launching soon...but due to signing an NDA I can't say anything further. Mystery!
- I'm working with a new client named Erin to develop her first book—which is all about pricing. She covers how to choose the best price for your services by using actual math instead of just guessing. So many business owners feel baffled about pricing (and under-charge severely) so I know this book will be a blessing to many.
- I bought a house! And did a major renovation! It was a journey (and ended up being literally 5x more expensive than originally planned) but we made it to the finish line and it looks stunning. This property will eventually become The Hawaii Writer's Inn where I can meet with clients in-person to do small, intimate writing retreats and work on projects together. I can't wait to do a photoshoot of the newly remodeled space...and then...the big
reveal!
- I made a card deck called Pup Talks which includes 52 encouraging pep talks from dogs. It's so silly and delightful. We donate a portion of profits to FurKid Rescue.
- For a good time, call The Pup Talks Hotline. Dial 252-PUP-TALK. You'll hear an encouraging message...from a dog. Woof.
- Last but certainly not least, here's how I'm protecting my mental health lately...Taking walks outside without my phone...cuddling with Zuki the dog...taking weekends off (when possible, Fridays too)...getting back to the gym...and listening to this charming podcast about etiquette which makes me chuckle, smile, and
feel hope for humanity.
. . .
It's been a big 2022 thus far.
It feels great to be grooving, writing, and getting things done—especially after going through a big creative slump at this time last year.
During summer 2021, I felt very low energy, foggy, and unclear about my purpose. A friend reminded me, "This too shall pass" and she was right.
One year later, I feel massively inspired again. A good reminder that nothing is permanent in life. The peaks are not permanent and neither are the valleys.
That's my update.
What have you been up to lately?

Thank you.
I'm wishing you good health, peace, strength, and great success (whatever "success" means to you) in all of your endeavors.
-Alex
PS. You're doing a great job. And sometimes, "you're doing a great job" means you're doing the bare minimum because that's really all you can handle at the moment. Whatever phase of life you're in right now, expansion or contraction, spiraling
upward or curling inward into grief, Y.D.A.G.J. Take good care of yourself.
