Spring is on the way...
Okay, so a daffodil display
like the one above might be jumping the gun for most of us in the first week of February, but there are some in flower just up the lane here in Cornwall. They're also a great example of creating beneficial relationships - often planted around orchard trees because the smell of the bulbs repels burrowing, root-nibbling rodents. Of course they brighten things up a bit too...
Winter is also a great time for reflection and taking stock. With food and energy prices still rising, it's important to be looking for ways to increase our personal and local resilience. Permaculture can help us with
this. While the idea of doing a 'design' may sound a bit scary for some of us, we're all designing things all the time. And while permaculture can get quite complex, at its heart it has simple ethics and principles that guide us in meeting our day-to-day needs.
To support you with this I've launched a new YouTube series - one video a week through the spring - that will guide you through a permaculture design process for your own home or garden. There's a link to the first one below. If you'd like to dive deeper, there's also my 'Design Your Site with Permaculture' online course.
And I've lined up more introductory and full design courses (all of them in-person) for the coming year. Hopefully I'll meet you somewhere along the way.
Wishing you a peaceful and abundant spring,
