book The Substance of Drawing. A Guide to Visual Power by Bjørn Laursen (Artdigiland 2017).

The Substance of Drawing is not a manual as it is normally meant. It is not just a technical guide to learning how to draw. It lets you understand the motivations and impulses that are at the origin of drawing and the processes that are activated when you draw. And drawing is intended not so much as a simple tool, more or less effective, to imitate reality, but as a means of knowledge and memory with respect to
reality. What Bjørn Laursen lets us understand is how listening and the availability to be captured by what we have around are essential qualities for an artist, and how the act of drawing is not a passive recording of objects, but a discovering and imagining, discovering the present and its history, and imaging the future of the environment we live in.
Bjørn Laursen, visual artist, associate professor at Roskilde University, Denmark, Ph.D in multi-media, MA in
literature. In 2015 BL was given the RUC innovation award. He has written books and many articles about the process of drawing and been teaching, researching and developing visual pedagogics, didactics and performance design.

The Substance of Drawing non è un semplice manuale. Non è soltanto una guida tecnica per imparare a disegnare. Permette al lettore di capire le motivazioni e gli impulsi che sono all'origine del disegno e dei processi attivati quando si disegna. E il disegno non è inteso come semplice strumento, più o meno efficace, per imitare la realtà, ma come mezzo di conoscenza e di memoria. Quello che Bjørn Laursen ci
permette di capire è che la capacità di ascolto e la disponibilità a lasciarsi catturare da quanto ci circonta sono qualità essenziali dell'artista e che l'atto del disegnare non è una registrazione passiva di oggetti, ma scoperta e immaginazione, scoperta del presente e della storia, e immaginazione del futuro dell'ambiente nel quale viviamo.

associato all'Università Roskilde, Danimarca, Ph.D in multimedialità, MA in letteratura. Nel 2015 BL è stata premiata con l'innovazione RUC. Ha scritto libri e molti articoli sul processo di disegno e ha insegnato, studiato e sviluppato pedagogia visiva, didattica e progettazione delle prestazioni.

On the occasion of the OUTSTANDING 6, installation of
light at the Vanvitelliano staircase in Pesaro, (opening September 9, 19:00), Fabrizio Crisafulli presents the book Il teatro dei luoghi at the bookshop Libreria Il catalogo in Pesaro. Beside Fabrizio Crisafulli, Bjørn Laursen (Professor of Performance Design at the University of Roskilde, Denmark) and Vito Minoia (Edizioni Nuove Catarsi).
Fabrizio
Crisafulli is a theatre director and visual artist. He runs the theatre company Il Pudore Bene in Vista based in Rome, which he established in 1991. The defining aspects of his work are his use of light as an independent subject of poetic construction, and what he defines as the 'Theatre of Places' (treating the place as ’text’ and a matrix for performances), involving research along with stage production. He teaches at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and at
RomaTre University and is also (sept. 2015) doctor honoris causa at Roskilde University in Denmark. He is the author of the book Active Light. Issues of Light in Contemporary Theatre (Dublin: Artdigiland, 2013).
In occasione dei OUTSTANDING 6, installazione di luce allo scalone Vanvitelliano di Pesaro, (inaugurazione 9 settembre ore 19.00), Fabrizio Crisafulli presenta presso la libreria Il Catalogo di Pesaro il libro Il teatro dei luoghi. Accanto a Fabrizio Crisafulli intervengono Bjørn Laursen (docente di Performance Design all'Università di Roskilde,
Danimarca) e Vito Minoia (Edizioni Nuove Catarsi).
Fabrizio Crisafulli è regista teatrale e artista visivo. Dal 1991 guida la Compagnia Il Pudore Bene in Vista, con sede a Roma. Insegna al DAMS di RomaTre. Nel 2015 l’Università di Roskilde (Danimarca) gli ha conferito la laurea ad honorem per i risultati conseguiti con la sua ricerca teatrale. Le installazioni di Crisafulli, come molti dei suoi lavori teatrali site-specific, seguono il criterio del teatro dei luoghi: utilizzando la luce come suo strumento principale, l'artista si relaziona a luoghi, corpi architettonici, allo spazio fisico e antropologico dei contesti in cui interviene, mettendo in gioco forme, memorie, identità. E' autore del volume Luce attiva. Questioni della luce nel teatro contemporaneo, edito in
italinao nel 2007 da Titivillus.
