Today, 28 October, in Helsinki, we shall be presenting the English edition of an
interview-book with Luciano Tovoli, ON SUSPIRIA AND BEYOND. The presentation takes place as part of a major European event, the institution and award by the European Association of Authors of Photography IMAGO, founded by Tovoli, of the first European Prize for Best Cinematographer.

presentazione si svolge nell’ambito di un grande evento europeo, l’istituzione da parte dell’Associazione Europea degli Autori della Fotografia IMAGO, di cui Tovoli è fondatore, del primo Premio Europero al miglior cinematographer.

For the 40th anniversary of Argento’s great masterpiece Suspiria, Luciano Tovoli
has curated a restored blue-ray edition of the film for Synapse Film of the U.S., destined for the U.S. market, with cinema distribution by Fox. This work has given Tovoli the opportunity to retrace in book form his research on colour, shared with directors such as Argento, Antonioni, Scola. The scene of the first presentation of the book, an unprecedented event by the Association IMAGO, at Helsinki: the institution and award of the first European prize for Best Author of Photography. Piercesare Stagni and Valentina Valente, the Italian edition will soon be available.
In occasione dei 40 anni del grande capolavoro argentiano Suspiria, Luciano Tovoli ha curato per l’americana Synapse Film un’edizione restaurata del film, che esce in blue ray per il mercato americano e sarà distribuito nei cinema dalla Fox. Il restauro è stato occasione per
Tovoli per ripercorrere in un libro la sua ricerca sul colore, condivisa con registi quali Argento, Antonioni, Scola. Teatro della prima presentazione del libro un evento senza precedenti dell’Associazione IMAGO, a Helsinki: l’istituzione e il conferimento del primo premio europeo al miglior Autore della Fotografia. Curato da Piercesare Stagni e Valentina Valente, il libro sarà presto disponibile anche nell’edizione italiana.

As it is 80 years since the birth of Cinecittà, and also since
Tonino Delli Colli first entered those studios on Via Tuscolana 1055, we have accepted the proposal by Stefano Delli Colli, the son of the great Director of Photography, to pay this tribute to his father. The volume recounts – from the son’s point of view – the cinematographic adventure of Delli Colli, from the excitement of the ’fifties to the great times beside Pier Paolo Pasolini, from Sergio Leone to Federico Fellini, including Monicelli, Annaud, Polanski, Ferreri and many other great
directors. An extraordinary iconographic set-up shows us the life of the set over fifty years of Italian cinema. A guest of exception at this presentation, besides the author himself, is Ninetto Davoli, with the contribution of Silvia Tarquini (Artdigiland); Laura Delli Colli is the moderator.

1055 −, abbiamo accolto la proposta di Stefano Delli Colli, figlio del grande direttore della fotografia, di rendere omaggio al padre. Il volume racconta, dal suo punto di vista di figlio, l’avventura cinematografica di Delli Colli dal fervore degli anni ‘50 alla grande stagione al fianco di Pier Paolo Pasolini, da Sergio Leone a Federico Fellini, passando per Monicelli, Annaud, Polanski, Ferreri e tanti altri grandi registi. Uno straordinario apparato inconografico restituisce la vita del set
attraverso cinquanta anni di cinema italiano. Per la presentazione, accanto all’autore, partecipazione straordinaria di Ninetto Davoli e intervento di Silvia Tarquini (Artdigiland); modera Laura Delli Colli.

prosegue fino al 22 dicembre, il festival Fuorinorma, la cui prima edizione si svolge a Roma in 21 sale indipendenti, tra biblioteche comunali, teatri e cineclub. Artdigiland pubblica il catalogo che raccoglie le schede dei venti film selezionati per questa prima edizione tra le opere “neosperimentali” degli ultimi dieci anni, un saggio di Adriano Aprà e un lungo scambio di mail tra Aprà e gli autori coinvolti. Tra gli eventi speciali del festival Artdigiland cura un omaggio a Corso Salani, con

Opening on 26
October, intentionally “in competition” with Rome’s Festival del Cinema, and continuing up to 22 December, the Fuorinorma festival’s first edition takes place in Rome, in 21 independent venues including municipal libraries, theatres and film clubs. Artdigiland is publishing the catalogue with the reviews of twenty films selected for this first edition from the “neo-experimental” works of the past ten years, an essay by Adriano Aprà and a delightful e-mail exchange between Aprà and the related
authors. An Artdigiland festival’s special event (on 8th november) include a tribute to Corso Salani, with the publication of the dvd of his last film, Mirna, and a book as cinematographic diary. For further information, see www.fuorinorma.it.

The famous Roman “cellar” for experimental theatre of the ’sixties and ’seventies, first Carmelo Bene’s favourite spot and later on
that of the so-called “theatre-image” groups, Beat 72 ‒ now an architectural firm ‒ hosted on October 7th the presentation of the first monograph devoted to the theatre of Giuliano Vasilicò (1936-2015), one of the protagonists of “Roma cellar” theatre, whose work was for years based at Beat 72. The book by Fabrizio Crisafulli, artist and scholar, focuses on Vasilicò’s best and most productive period, during which, after an extraordinary Amleto (1971), he produced
Le 120 giornate di Sodoma (1972), a spectacle revealing the entire phenomenon of the “Roman cellars”, and Proust (1976), an almost unique case in which the French writer’s poetic world is successfully transposed to the stage.
Famosa “cantina” della ricerca teatrale romana degli anni 60’ e ’70, luogo d’elezione di Carmelo Bene prima e poi dei gruppi del cosiddetto “teatro-immagine”, il
Beat 72 ‒ ora uno studio di architetti ‒ ha ospitato lo scorso 7 ottobre la presentazione della prima monografia dedicata al lavoro teatrale di Giuliano Vasilicò (1936-2015), uno dei protagonisti del teatro delle “cantine romane”, il cui lavoro ha fatto base per anni proprio al Beat 72.
