Alain interviewed the legendary Brigitte Bardot on the eve of her 60th birthday in 1994, the same year that Jeffrey Robinson wrote her biography Brigitte
Bardot: Two Lives. She recently turned 80 and has been in the news for having suffered from depression. They say she has been on the brink of suicide several times. In this feisty interview there is little sign of that. BB sparkles with a sharp wit and comes across in fighting form.
Bardot says that she prefers passion and sweetness to love and sex, and her fondest memories are of animals. Her commitment to animals is a battle with the cruelty, stupidity and indifference of humans.
She evidently has a good point. The World Wildlife Fund has just released the 2014 Living Planet Report which suggests that populations of some wild animals have fallen by half in the past 40 years.
