Hanif Kureishi is a much loved British Pakistani playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker and novelist. Considered to be one of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945", his award winning "My Beautiful Laundrette" and "The Buddha of Suburbia" endeared him to millions. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2008.
