Jonathan Galassi is the President and Publisher of Farrar, Straus and Giroux, one of the eight major publishers in New York. He has recently translated the poems of Primo Levi and written his first novel, about publishing in the days when it was peopled by larger than life personalities. There are new aspects in his life as a writer and in the publishing business.
