Eike Schmidt is the first non-Italian to be appointed Director of the Uffizi since it opened to the public in 1765. He talks about the challenges he faces to reorganise the different parts of the Uffizi into a streamlined entity, and explains what he is urgently doing to improve the visitor experience at the world-leading collections.
