So what a week in Jamaica , whew!
One thing for sure that you and I will agree on is that there is never a dull moment in here my friend 😊.
But anyways, happiest of Sundays to you and yours!
Actually, I'm on top of the world now as my daughter has achieved an almost unbelievable academic performance in her CSEC (CXC) high school exit examinations.
It's a performance that is now on the lips of everyone in her circle and thousands of others on mainstream and in social media.
But just before, I need to share this with you...
The latest (updated) curfew hours in Jamaica.
By now you might have heard that with the covid cases and positivity rate declining, the PM has gone away with the no movement on Sundays, reduced the curfew hours, and increase the maximum number of persons who can attend particular events - of course to the delight of many.
And now to Karena (Leah), my daughter, so bear with me a little as this is personal, but I'm hoping it inspires someone.
If you follow the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), that's the agency charged with disseminating governmental information, you would have seen that last Sunday, a Montego Bay High School student was not only featured for her exceptional academic performance, but also awarded Photo Of The Day!!
That student is Karena (Leah) Gayle, the daughter of Omeil and yours truly!
She attained 12 CSEC subjects, all with distinctions (9 in one sitting - phenomenal)!
And so today, not only will I share this special JIS feature with you, I'll also share our own article, written by my associate, Kesha.
Here they are:
- My-Island-Jamaica.com: Karena Gayle, Montego Bay High Student, Cops 12 CSEC Distinctions
https://www.my-island-jamaica.com/karena-gayle-montego-bay-high-student-cops-12-csec-distinctions.html
And please share your comments here, she'll appreciate it.
- JIS: Montego Bay High School for Girls graduate, Karena Gayle
https://jis.gov.jm/features/student-of-mobay-high-school-for-girls-cops-nine-csec-subjects/
Amazing stuff right?
Oh yes, and I say, to God be the glory!
Be sure to take a read of both when you get a chance and share the articles to inspire someone.
Remember also that I have other fresh and insightful content on the website via the blog, so please remember to stop by and check them out.
And now, the...
Remember last week I told you I have a special (and rather personal) video to share with you?
Well here it is (below)!
And yes, it is a very special video of Karena, partly as we celebrate her achievements, but also as she and us (parents) share what we consider the key success factors in her educational attainments.
I think you'll love it. Here is it, embedded below.
Please be sure to LIKE and comment.
And if you like it, please SHARE it with someone, the more the merrier!

And still on education, did you know that our colleges and Universities are ranked as some of the best in the world? And yes, I said the world!
Oh yes again, consistently so!
It was only last month I ran into another article reporting hat UWI moved from a top 3 percent, to top 1.5%, of universities in the world!
And so as country and region, we have a lot to be proud of.
So today I applaud the work of our educators and proudly declare our educational institutions, even with much limited resources, as one of our greatest products!
It has been a dream time since the publication of the CSEC results and the special JIS feature on Karena.
I really would like to thank everyone who shared congratulatory notes, directly or indirectly, online and offline.
On behalf of myself, Karena, my wife and the rest of the family, I say a hearty and humbled, 'Thank You'!
Did you know...
... that two-thirds of the western and central parts of Jamaica is covered by limestone? The remaining one-third is made up of alluvium.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
I should let you know that cruise ships are set to return to the port of Falmouth on November 8, following an 18-month absence due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Italian liner, Costa, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation, will be making a much-anticipated call to the Trelawny capital.
The city's mayor, Colin Gager, reportedly said that the visit by the vessel is welcomed news for local officials, businesses, and residents, as it represents a glimmer of hope for bigger things to come.
And that's it for today. As usual, thank you for your time, I do appreciate it. Until next week, #KeepSafeAndSane .
