A few weeks ago I met up with Ms. Junie in the market selling this extremely weird fruit, she called it the Saporte then.
But when I say weird it is an understatement! On the outside it looks like any other fruit perhaps closest to a star apple, but cut the ripe one open and if you don't have a strong stomach you'll likely throw up!
Yes it looks that disgusting!
I got curious and quizzed Mrs. Junie who, after sharing testimonies of its astounding health benefits, she agreed for me to visit her to learn more about it! Well that I did!
And today I have this full video, not only showing you everything about the plant (tree) and the fruit (ripe and green), but also its amazing health benefits!
Prepare for an invigorating learning adventure. Here is it, embedded below.

And if you like it, please SHARE it with someone, the more the merrier!
Featured Jamaican Product
Now this is a fun one, but I'm gonna say this event (or rather time of year) is like none other. And yes it is Christmas in Jamaica!
Countries and cultures around the word have made Christmas special in their own way, but ask an regular visitor to Jamaica and you'll hear that we have a sweeter vibe! There's something special about Jamaica.
So even with the pandemic, Christmas in Jamaica is super special, the extravagant decorations, caroling, tree lightings, reunions, food etc, etc.
So today I shout that this time in Jamaica is also a big selling point and so a cherished product of Jamaica!
Last week Tuesday (November 16th) I had the privilege and honour of getting inducted in Rotary International.
Its a beautiful feeling, getting into and, rubbing shoulders with like minded persons with an interest in service to our fellow humans.
I'm really looking forward to it but want to shout out the team here in Rotary Montego Bay!
Thank you wonderful ladies and gentlemen for the support and belief in me!
Did you know...
... that a gene from the Jamaican click beetle, locally called the “Peeny-Walley”, is patented abroad and use for bioluminescence imaging in oncology, genetics and environmental sciences.
This, according to a newsletter from the University of the West Indies, Mona in April 2004.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
You can tell that despite the pandemic realities, we are looking forward to a rumbustious Christmas here right?
Oh yes!
And I have special YouTube feature for you coming this weekend on one of the delicacies we have here at Christmas time, so please look forward to that.
It will go live at 6pm this Saturday during my weekly premiere!
And that's it for today. As usual, thank you for your time, I do appreciate it. Until next week again I say, #KeepSafeAndSane .
Note: If you missed any of these juicy newsletter editions in the past, you can find them in our nicely arranged archives.
