Hey , happy Sunday again to you and yours my friend!
Family Trip To Portland!
Shane, one of my regular readers, yes someone like you, had sent me a detailed emailed asking about, among other things, the best places to stay, best food spots,
historical sites etc., for his family trip to Portland.
And so we obliged!
But I'm sharing with you as I think you might have an interest as well, no or later :-)
And now, yes,
In this video, I feature Uncle Joe who has been feeding workers in the BPO industry (literally, with Jamaican porridge and soups in the mornings) for over 20 years!
Not only did we get a chance understand this business and what it means for Joe, we also grabbed the opportunity to speak to some of his customers who were all excited to share their delight with his products, Jamaican hominy porridge, Jamaican peanut porridge and Jamaican chicken foot soup.
You'll enjoy this refreshing serving too :-)
Here is it embedded below.

And if you like it, please SHARE it with someone, the more the merrier!

OK, so this one is a little controversial, but the facts are still the fact. And this is the BPO industry in Jamaica. This industry is considered Jamaica’s next economic “cash cow”.
It provides approximately 43,000 plus jobs with over 70 companies across the island now making it an extremely important contributor to the country’s economy.
In Jamaica, this industry is valued at more than US $600 million.
So what's the pull?
You typically hear three things:
- Jamaica's strategic location, relative to the US - it is nearer to reach than some states in the US.
- Available labor &
- English speaking ability
Interesting, isn't it? I suggest that you read more in the article, also mentioned above, The BPO Industry In Jamaica
Today I'd like to officially salute Kimma, another of my readers but also a (new) customer. This was her email...
"Hello Mr. Wellesley. I hope my message finds you well. Please please forgive my rudeness. I truly apologize for not reaching out sooner to let you know that I received the package and you did a wonderful job with the packaging. I couldn’t have ask for a more pleasant transaction. There are no words to express the beauty of Miss Joy’s baskets. I am beyond please. There’s a greater appreciation for something when you know it’s handmade. I can’t wait to
bless someone with one. Thanks again for everything including the pimento 🌺🇯🇲"
That made my day, as to be honest with you, not only was her's the first basket order, it was the first of its kind I was sending overseas and I didn't know if it would reach in good order.
Big up and thanks again Kimma!
Did you know...
... that several smaller islands, called Cays, lie at various points off the coast of Jamaica? The most notable ones are the Pedro Cays and the Morant Cays - four in total. And yes, they are all considered part of Jamaica.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
A special thanks to my readers again. Last week I reminded them about the special Q&A
feature and I noticed a bunch of questions came in, so thanks again - I love hearing from my peeps :-)
On a related note though, is there anything new or different you'd like me to cover, in article or video?
I'd really appreciate you letting me know, just reply to this email and let me know my friend. Blessings and thanks.
