So you love our own Jamaican patties, right ?
Oops, excuse my manners, I should start with Happy Sunday right 😊
Oh yes!
But what do you know of the history of patties here?
For instance:
- Where does the 'Jamaican patty' concept arrived from?
- What was the oldest patty company in Jamaica?
- How many are produced here daily here?
And did you even know that there is even what is called a National Jamaican Patty Day? LOL?
But this is just one, remember I have a long list of extremely insightful articles for you this week, including:
And now, yes,
In this second episode of my LIKKLE PEOPLE series, I happily showcase Ms V and her locally (Jamaican) owned gift shop (chock-full of authentic Jamaican gifts and souvenir items) situated on Montego Bay's Hip strip.
So yes, I asked and Ms. V gave me a little 'tour' of her gift shop, in which she highlighted some of her best selling Jamaican gift items.
I tell you though, if you are looking for great gift ideas, this video will provide that. But the highlight was to see her strut her favorite Rasta hat!
Here is it embedded below.

Featured Jamaican Product
Have you ever heard anyone suggesting that Jamaican KFC taste better than those outside of Jamaica, certainly in the US and CA?
Do you belief them?
Oh yes, and I have empirical evidence! And it is not because of my past experience in the industry 😊
But its true! The fast food experts will tell you too! And so while it is a private company, using a private franchise, we can still boast that yes, KFC Jamaica is a proud product of Jamaica!
During this past week I struggled with getting a particular connection for my webcam.
I wanted an extension usb if you will, but later learned, after several trials and errors, that standard USB doesn't really work after about 10-12 feet.
But there is a young man, a technician, Dean that works in town who was with me all the way, working on several alternatives.
On Thursday evening in particular, I was with him way pass his regular work time at his workplace, testing and trying different options.
So today I big him up and say thanks sir Dean for the effort!
The true Jamaican spirit!
And since we are still in September,
Did you know...
... that a railway disaster in Jamaica killed over 200 people on Sunday, September 1, 1957?
It happened at approximately 11:30pm in Kendal Manchester!
Hundreds of members of the Holy Name Society of St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church were returning to Kingston from an all day excursion in Montego Bay under the guidance of their pastor, the Reverend Father Charles Earle.
It is reported that also on board were close to 100 known criminals, hooligans and pickpockets!
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
Thanks again for sharing your time with me again this week.
