Hi there,
"Action cures fear; inaction creates terror."
I'm not kidding, I've been reading this quote by Douglas Horton over and over again. Such a few words with such a huge power.
Below the surface, "Action cures fear; inaction creates terror" really sums up what so many are experiencing right now.
Especially with the recession approaching at high speed.
Often economic downturns make us feel powerless. And to a certain extent, it's true. You can't stop a recession.
You can't pretend it's not weird that things that cost $1.50 a few months ago are now $5.99. And it all makes you ask questions
like:
"How much is that product really worth to me?"
All this doesn't mean there aren't things you can do to soften the effect of recession. The "good" thing about an
economic downturn is that it forces us to think outside of the box. All turbulences in the market create opportunities not seen before.
Check these examples of businesses that started during economic downturns:
Uber - founded in 2009 and is now a multi-billion business
Airbnb - founded in 2008 and today worth over $30 billion
The list can be more extensive if digging into earlier decades.
I started my own business at times when the financial world was upside down. I did it mainly because I wanted to take control of my own life and not depend on what was happening in the world.
The desire to create stability for me motivated me to do what
I did.
Even though it hasn't been an easy journey, I can now lay back and make the statement:
"The best decision ever!"
Among all the positive effects I experienced, I would like to highlight the following:
- Fulfillment of my need for freedom and space to do what I wanted in life,
all my terms.
- Financial stability, where I can decide how much I would like to earn. By being my own boss, I'm the "director of the orchestra."
- Do what I love to do, providing help and
support to like-minded people with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Do you know what, I really think I could help you to do the same?
It doesn't have to be huge. I mean, you don't have to restructure your current life completely. It's all about
making small changes the whole time and achieving something really big in the end.
Now you probably think for yourself,
"Jan, just because it worked for you doesn't mean it will work for me."
Just know that by no means do I belong to any group of exceptions. What about Uber and Airbnb mentioned earlier?
If you can relate to all this so far, I highly recommend you to take our outstanding Workshop Course. It's a great way of taking the first step when you know that you have to do something anyway to deal with the recession around the corner.
