Happy New Year! However you celebrate the holidays, I hope it was a lovely season for you full of love and laughter - because that's
a great day any day, isn't it?
I did a lot of knitting, sewing and baking. The bad news is that I learned how to make proper vanilla custard from scratch, and discovered that a traditional English trifle is one of the happiest things you can do with butter, sugar and eggs. Oh, it was dangerously good.
The good news is that I got the kids' Christmas Eve pajamas done on time (barely). They turned out really cute. Just don't look too
hard at the seams.
With all that handwork and cooking and eating, I turned to audiobooks to get my story fix. I haven't really used them much before, but they're growing on me. How about you -- do you prefer print, e-books, or audio? Why? I'd love to hear your thoughts -- why not leave a comment on my Facebook post at this link?
Now, in today's newsletter we've got: - A review of a holiday cozy mystery from one of my
favorite Golden-Age authors;
- The last day to get a special discount on my Christmas story collection;
- Two enormous giveaways to fill your e-reader with any kind of mystery you like; and
- An awesome new featured book.
Enjoy!

Ngaio Marsh delivers the goods -- as always -- in this charming country-house mystery that deftly walks the line between classic style and its more contemporary
setting. |
THREE FOR THE PRICE OF ONE My Christmas story collection, Happy Bloody Christmas is on special through Twelfth Night (which is tomorrow). If you haven't already picked up a copy, now's a
great time to get these special peeks into Mottley's backstory and holiday shenanigans!
The collection includes two previously-published Mottley shorts, along with a brand-new story. The two you'll see listed separately on Amazon are "Mr Mottley and the Kiss of Death" and "Mr Mottley Stirs up Trouble." The new one is called "Mr Mottley Pulls a Cracker," and it's Mottley's very first case.
You can grab it for 99 cents here: Searching for your next favorite story? Look no further!
I know some of you newer readers found Mister Mottley Gets His Man through a Bookfunnel group. Welcome!
Mottley is actually in two groups that overlap just for a few days, so if you joined on one, you have a great opportunity to find some new reads in the other.
The "Fill Your EReader with Thrillers, Mystery and Suspense"
group runs through January 7th, so only two more days on that one. The link is right here: Thriller-Mystery-Suspense
And the "Ring in the New Year with Free Mysteries" group runs through January 21. The link for that is here: Ring-In-New-Year
Whether you like historicals, cozies, procedurals, or thrillers, you're bound to find something worth adding to your collection!
