Keck School of Medicine of USC, we extend our deepest thanks to all those who have helped us move the field of elder abuse forward the past 3 years. Through our many partnerships we have disseminated research, provided training, identified promising practices and interventions, and provided subject matter expertise on elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We are especially grateful for all the individuals who reached out to us to share their stories and request information and resources. We could not have served these individuals without the help of our national partners and

Consumer Voice Partnering with Consumer Voice, the NCEA developed a fact sheet and hosted a webinar on Balancing Privacy & Protection: Surveillance Cameras in Nursing Home Residents’ Rooms. These new resources present an overview of the balance between safety and security with privacy of residents and their roommates,
current state laws and guidelines on surveillance cameras in residents’ rooms, and considerations to evaluate before installing a surveillance camera.: American Bar Association Resources The ABA and
NCEA partnered to create three new materials on Guardianship practices.: Frameworks Institute As a continued effort to change the public's perception of elder abuse, the NCEA, with the Frameworks Institute have created a number of tools to change the
public conversation about elder abuse and raise the salience of the issue.: Medicare: Avoiding Fraud Open enrollment begins October 15th and also, starting April 2018, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will launch the Social Security Number
Removal Initiative (SSNRI). What steps can be taken to safeguard information?: Elder Abuse Research Review This Research Review lists the latest primary and secondary literature related to elder abuse in the United States that was published during the NCEA grant cycle at USC (September 2014 - August 2017). While more research is needed to shed light on the prevalence,
risk prevention, and detection of elder abuse, the NCEA is dedicated to disseminating peer-reviewed research as it is published to highlight what is known and identify gaps to inform policy and practice in the field.
Department of Justice Elder Justice Initiative Didn’t have a chance to join us? and professionals in 2017-2020. This grant cycle has been a resounding success by so many measures, and as we wrap up our activities in this iteration of the grant, we are even more energized to promote awareness and achieve success together in the future. |
