Thank you for reading my newsletter! This month is going to be a busy one, as I prepare for a time of self-care. I will be taking a hiatus for the months of July and August in order to rest and rejuvenate for what will be a very active fall schedule. While I am excited to be working with so many great organizations, I am really looking forward to some much needed rest and
quality time with my family. If you haven't already, you should consider taking some time for R&R. Check out this spot-on article on the subject.
In June, we celebrate Juneteenth and the importance of the commemoration of Freedom. Learn more here.
We also celebrate Black Music Month in June, which for me means reminding you of the genius of Prince, who was also born on June 7th. Listen to this:

Practicing Law Institute: Diversity & Inclusion in Law Practice
June 29, 2021
Following the widespread protests last summer, law offices across the United States declared their commitment to the goals of equity, diversity, and inclusion. What steps have individuals and law offices taken since then? At this year’s “Diversity & Inclusion in Law Practice” program, a faculty of attorneys and diversity professionals will discuss important recent legal
developments that impact equity, diversity, and inclusion; what law firms, corporate law departments and the judiciary can do to identify and disrupt systemic racism in the profession; and specific, practical suggestions for achieving a sustainable, diverse legal workplace. Join us by registering
On May 21st, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association (MBBA), held their 37th annual Awards Gala. As the president of the Friends of MBBA Inc. (MBBA's charitable organization), I
had the great honor of being a part of the event, which was a great success. We were almost able to raise our goal of $10,000 - we raised $7,800! Each year, proceeds from the Gala go to support scholarships, pipeline efforts, and community engagement. It's not too late to donate! If you would like to donate to the scholarship effort, you can text your pledge to this number: (646) 760-6222 or click here.
I am excited to be included in Becoming Black Lawyers, a short documentary film featuring the stories of 5 Black lawyers who share their lived experiences of being Black in predominantly White law schools. The documentary provides thoughtful and engaging insight and perspectives into the significance of Blackness in law school and what it means to become a Black lawyer. Click here to view the trailer!
