I'm still reeling from the events in Buffalo. This last week was almost unbearable. On calls with clients, I have been very open
letting folks know that I am simply managing.
I navigate pain, discomfort, and trauma every day as a diversity speaker and consultant. While I am grateful for the opportunity to help leaders navigate the challenges and opportunities of advancing equity and inclusion, I am also human and I am a Black woman.
There is already so much going on before my summer sabbatical begins. And with this being Mental Health Awareness Month, this is an ideal time to remind you of the importance of taking time off to relax and recharge.
When things get hectic, it can cause us to get overwhelmed and drain our energy and our joy. So make sure you are checking in with yourself and others, and don't be afraid to ask for the support that you need.
I also encourage you to schedule some time for yourself, even if it's only in small increments to start. Seriously, if you don't schedule it now, the harder it will be later to commit to it.
That being said, if you are thinking of engaging me for programming, but have not already reached out to me about planning any sessions between now and June 30, please do so now, as I'll be mostly offline from July - September for my annual summer sabbatical.
