Hi
Next week, I will have the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Nick Berens from Fit Learning. If the last name sounds familiar, it's because we met Nick's wife, Dr. Kim Berens, back in Session 44.
In this episode, we'll be taking an introductory foray into Relational Frame Theory. Like Kim, Nick
studied at the University of Nevada, Reno, and learned RFT directly from Dr. Steve Hayes and other RFT pioneers.
To be candid, I've been sort of avoiding doing a deep dive on RFT because a) it's been something I've struggled to master, and b) explaining it in an audio format may not do it justice. After chatting with Nick about these fears, I decided to throw caution to the wind, as he assured me that we'll be fine, particularly with the latter
concern.
As a very interesting aside, Nick will also talk about how they use RFT at Fit Learning to create critical thinking and problem solving repertoires. Cool stuff indeed!
So, if you're like me, and you're interested in learning more about RFT, you're going to want to tune into this episode. Furthermore, if you have specific questions for Nick, you can submit them by simply responding to this email.
On a
different note, I wanted to share a few other happenings here at The Behavioral Observations Podcast:
- After getting some requests from listeners, I have gone forward and created an online store where you can purchase podcast-related merchandise. So if you're in the market for coffee mug, T-shirt, tote bag, phone case, or even a onesie, click
here to learn more (and by the way, these could be great gifts for friends and colleagues).
- I have created a special discount on Type 2 CE's for newly certified BCBA's. So if you have a 17 or 18 in your certificate number, head over here to get the discount code. Trust me, two years will go by fast, so this is a good way to get a
jump on your continuing education needs.
- On July 18th at 8 PM Eastern time, I will be hosting Session 52 guest, Dr. Matt Brodhead, for a Zoom hangout with the Behavioral Observations membership group. Matt will provide a brief presentation on Ethics, and it will be followed by a Q & A session. Type 2 Ethics CE's will be provided to attendees. If you want to learn more about the membership group, you can find that information here.
- The podcast can now be heard on YouTube and on Alexa devices. So if you have an Alexa, and you have people at your house who are overstaying their welcome, you can
say, "Alexa, play The Behavioral Observations Podcast," and watch them suddenly remember why they have to urgently leave ;-).
- I've done a few interviews on Facebook live. I'll publish my most recent one with Chartlytics co-founder Dave Stevens, as a podcast episode. If you have caught any of these, let me know if you'd like
to see more of them. Doing an interview live is certainly a different experience for me, and would love to get your feedback.
I think that's it for now. Sorry for the mini-novel of an email, but there's a lot going on and wanted to make sure you're in the loop.
All the best,
Matt
