Hi
I have been learning about
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for the past few years, and if you've been a long time listener to The Behavioral Observations Podcast, you know that ACT has been a topic we've addressed many times.
ACT is not only an interest of mine, it also seems to be popular with many listeners, as the ACT episodes are some of the most highly downloaded shows I've put out there!
That said, I often get emails from listeners asking questions about how they
can receive additional training in ACT. Not just that, I hear from many BCBA's who want to learn about ACT, but are rightfully concerned about staying within their scope of practice.
It is for these reasons and more that I am excited to partner with Praxis Continuing Education and Training to promote their upcoming
ACT Bootcamp for Behavior Analysts that is being held in Baltimore, Maryland from September 27-30th.
As the title of the event implies, this is specifically designed for Board Certified Behavior Analysts, and not social workers, clinical psychologists, mental health counselors, etc... As the title also implies, the term "bootcamp" is appropriate here. This is a four-day intensive workshop where you can really dig
into the content.
The program is designed to address the needs of the everyday Behavior Analyst, and it will be taught by leading figures in our field such as Steven Hayes, Jonathan Tarbox, Evelyn Gould, and Thomas Szabo.
This training will include the following:
- How participants can increase psychological flexibility with their clients while still staying within their scope of
practice.
- Experiential exercises to provide attendees a “hands on” way of understanding how ACT techniques influence psychological flexibility and overt behavior.
- Didactic presentations that range from a basic understanding of RFT, ACT, and functional contextualism to how BAs can apply these skills with specific populations.
- Evening breakout sessions that cover topics like scope of practice, ethics, and supervision.
In fact, all of your
ethics and supervisions CEs can be covered in this one training. When combining the day and evening sessions, participants can earn up to 32.5 Type 2 Continuing Education Units!
If this is something you're interested in learning more about, you can check out the event details
here.
Lastly, if you want to save $50 on your registration, use the discount code BOP.
If you're interested in taking your knowledge of ACT to the next level, this is the workshop for you.
All the best,
Matt
