Hi
If you've heard the last few episodes, you know that I'll be doing my first live podcast at the 10th annual Hoosier Association for Behavior Analysis Conference, which is coming up next week (details
here in
case you want to go... I think tickets may still be available).
Just yesterday we finalized the details of the podcast, and it turns out that we'll be recording it on Thursday evening during the HABA social / poster session. We'll have at the Skyline club (the venue for social/poster session) a room that seats about 40+ audience members, so if you plan on going, you're going to want to get in there right away!
My interview subject will be
keynote speaker, Dr. Matt Normand. For those who are not familiar with Matt, here's his bio:
Dr. Normand is a Professor of Psychology at the University of the Pacific (USA). His primary scientific interests, broadly defined, are the application of basic behavioral principles to problems of social significance (including obesity and community health issues), verbal behavior, and the philosophy and methodology of science. He is the former Editor
of The Behavior Analyst, a former Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, The Behavior Analyst, The Analysis of Verbal Behavior and Behavior Analysis in Practice, and he serves on the editorial boards of several other journals. Dr. Normand is the 2011 recipient of the B. F. Skinner New Researcher Award from the American Psychological Association (Div. 25). More information at www.theskinnerbox.com.
We'll probably talk a lot about the
application of Behavior Analysis to novel social problems as well as the general topic of skepticism. Time permitting, we will take questions from audience members at the event. If you're not going, but you have a question for Matt, simply respond to this message, and I'll do my best to work it in to the conversation.
All the best,
Matt
