It is the age-old question...

If you could make $2 for every $1 you spent on paid advertising, how many dollars would you spend?

If you could make $3 for every $1 spent, how many more would you spend?

I think you can see where I am going here...

All successful businesses rely on a certain level of paid advertising to bring new customers to their place of business...

The most successful book authors do the same -- they buy advertising to get their books in front of more potential buyers...

But, isn't it kind of risky to buy advertising for your books?

Isn't there a very real potential that I could flush my money down the proverbial toilet?

What are the chances that I could spend all of my advertising dollars and not sell a single copy of my book?

There is always a risk, IF YOU DON'T KNOW what mistakes you should avoid making...

I often tell you about the importance of putting your ads in front of the right audiences...

For example:

* You don't want to advertise books about surviving pregnancy to men... Men won't buy these books...
* You don't want to advertise your romance novels to men... 87% of the people who buy romance novels are women...
* You don't want to advertise your hunting guides to people who believe hunting is abhorrent...


The reason it matters about advertising to the right people is so you don't waste your advertising dollars talking to people who would never want to buy the books you are advertising...

Advertising to the wrong audience is the most common mistake beginners make...

It is an unforced error, but all too common...

Any time we set out to learn something new, there will always be a learning curve...

Chances are strong that we are going to waste lots of time and money, in the process of doing the wrong things...

It is not that we want to stumble through the process...

We simply do not know what we should be doing and what we should be trying to avoid doing...

There is always going to be a learning curve...

And, we will always make mistakes that don't result in new sales...

Mistakes and errors are not bad things...

One way or another, we need to learn...

And, trial by fire is often very effective...

He said he and his team tested more than 3,000 theories, before they found the one that worked...

He learned 3,000 ways NOT to make a lightbulb, before heh figured out the one way to make a lightbulb that he could patent and sell to his customers...

I spend time, energy, and money to learn from the best...
