Every month we run through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life. You can view a condensed version of this month’s coaching prompts here.
As much as good marketing habits are the heart of your freelance business, you can waste a TON of time if you don’t get one other thing right...and that’s positioning.
This CMO month, we’re going to be covering positioning—how you frame your business to your market—from a few angles.
- Why it’s important
- Choosing the best market
- Talking value
- Speaking from a problem perspective
- Refining over time
#4 Do I know what problems I solve?
This question is an extension of working from a value mindset.
So let’s say I’m looking for a concierge doctor. I have a few options, and am considering ones that prioritize long-term and preventive health. But when comparing, I find one that specifically addresses people with a family history of high blood pressure.
THAT problem is personal and really hammers value home.
So when thinking about your positioning, work on translating it to the day-to-day problems that your market has.
