One Friday a month, we look at
financial tips and advice for freelancers. (They’re slanted toward the US, so if you’d like to see or share insights from another perspective, just reply to this email!)
It’s
tax time (U.S.), but wherever you are, there’s never a bad time to rethink how you track your finances.
I’ve personally tried a
couple of solutions, and have landed on Xero because it integrates well, it learns (so it gets easier each year), and it’s what my accountant suggests (which makes my life easier.) I was on Quickbooks for a while, but could never get it to work right.
I’ve heard good things about HoneyBook, and Hectic (now Moxie) could be a good choice if you’re looking to have your entire freelance life housed in one platform. If you’re looking for other options, this list
might be helpful. Happy accounting!
P.S. If you’ve got any questions on a financial topic, just
reply to this email and I’ll see if I can’t help you out.
