But if you aren't feeling so on-top-of-the-world, or a bit stuck these days (or even just Blah...), I
have a few heart thoughts to share.
First, you are not alone in
this. 2022 was one wild ride of a year for me and I am just now settling down inside myself. I realize that one of the ways I got through the perceived chaos and massive changes was by allowing myself to get distracted. And, truthfully, this choice didn't do me much good.
Distracted into staying busy, overcommitted.
Distracted by listening to voices that weren't nurturing.
Distracted by media and too much scrolling on my phone.
And that's just for starters. The result of all this rapid fire life change, complete with distraction tendencies (coping strategies?) was just more stress and agitation. In July of 2022, I put myself on a spiritual
self-care program that was deeply healing and nourishing. Enough was enough!
One of the things I have found so helpful to re-establish spiritual self-care was crafting at-home retreats for myself. Not staycations, but actual retreats in the comfort of my own home, supported by the beauty of nature.
I wrote about my most recent at-home retreat creation here. I wanted to share this with you because I am still feeling the benefits of caring for my spirit in this deep way. I wonder if you might have similar needs.
Are you in need of spiritual nourishment these days? If so, I may have the solution!
I'm offering a contemplative, online retreat to gather kindred women together to share our soul journeys. Has it been a while since you've been in spiritual community! We will be an intentional, prayerful group, focused on fostering a deeper connection to Self, Spirit and one another.
The title of the retreat is "A
Spiritual Direction Retreat for Women: Standing at the Threshold" and will offer a variety of ways for you to deepen your spiritual lives and meet the invitation of the moment, no matter how uncertain it may seem. Together, we will engage in various contemplative practices and have gentle conversation about what it means to be standing at a personal threshold.
In terms of "Threshold," it seems many of us are finding ourselves at this place. Post pandemic, life feels quite different. There is no
going "back to normal." We have been dramatically changed by our individual and collective experiences of the past 3 years. I believe we are at a threshold moment in time.
You might find yourself at a unique personal threshold too, one that is inviting you deeper; needing to make a discernment about how you are living, or in what direction you should be moving. Perhaps there are many unresolved questions in your heart and you are living with the Mystery of how to "be," and, at the same time pondering, 'What's next?' Maybe you are feeling the Divine One drawing you closer, being invited to live as your deepest self once and for
all...
The date for this gathering is Saturday, Feb. 25. We will meet on zoom from 10:30 AM ET - 1:30 PM ET. (Beginning at 7:30 am PT, 8:30 am MT, 9:30 am CT). I hope you will consider joining me.
Here is the link to learn more about the retreat and how to
register.
I am so looking forward to journeying with you around this topic that is so central to our spiritual well-being!
Living in the Age of Distraction
Since reading this insightful article by Margaret Wheatley, my awareness around daily distraction has been turned on its head. I am so grateful to have found it that I wanted to share it with you. Do you see yourself in her words? I know I certainly did and I am
doing my best to change this. I'm making progress and I feel better already!
I always
enjoy hearing from you. If you have any questions about what I offered here, or wish to share your life experience, please reach out. I am here!
Your are ever in my heart and prayers.
With metta,
Jan
