Hi We have passed the high heatwave with temperatures returning to the low 80s for the week. The humidity is still higher than we typically have though. Over the past couple of weeks the trees in our urban forest have taken quite a hit with the heat. There have been dozens of branches drop off our trees due to the heat and wind from Tropical Storm Kay. And even though we are in water conservation mode because of the drought, we still need to water our trees, including those trees in our parkways. Please help keep our trees healthy and watered. Community Services District Meetings Over the past few weeks, the RCSD has held some committee meetings including the Park and Facilities Committee (Rips & Searles) who discussed pickleball courts and the Community/Safety Advisory Committee (DeMarco & Searles) where a rough draft of a permit -parking resolution was discussed.
If you were unable to attend, or want a recap of these meetings, summaries of have been included in this month's RCSD Director's Board Agenda Packet
available here. We invite you to "catch up" on these meetings if you'd like to know what's being discussed. A Request from Community Engagement... Rossmoor roots run deep. In OurRossmoor, EVERY person matters. Together we Thrive. PERSONAL REQUEST: As Our Rossmoor's RHA Community Engagement Coordinator, my mission is to (as in the title) strengthen community. I am painfully aware, however in my
limitations to understand people whose backgrounds and experiences are different than mine, and without understanding, I more often than not, miss the mark in sharing and reaching out. This awareness of my own shortcomings, is the foundation for my learning, and I am asking for people who want to join the journey - not DOING, but rather BEING. Sharing experiences with similar and different people is my favorite part of my RHA efforts - So, I am scheduling an introductory ZOOM session, asking for those whose backgrounds and experiences are different than mine (like everyone - it's a wide net) and those
who might want to start sharing with each other - first in our working group, so that I can better see where the "puzzle pieces" fit. The first meeting is to set up a framework: How often and how will we meet (zoom, email, small gatherings), how will we share w each other (facilitated learning
presentations, potlucks), how much/little time does the group (or individuals in the group) want to dedicate to this exploration, and who knows- let it organically take form. Thanks for being the BEST! I Rossmoor. Rossmoor Red Cross Blood Drive IF you are able to donate blood and potentially save a life, please sign up for our Wednesday, September 21st Rossmoor Blood Drive.

Deadline Approaching - Explore The World The Youth Center's annual Gala titled Explore The World will be held at The White House on September 17th. Explore the world through our entertainment, auction, sunset cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, power networking, and more. The evening will be filled with good times, a sunset cocktail hour, dinner and dancing at the elegant White House Event Center in Anaheim (what, were you thinking that other White House on the East Coast? 😀). The Anaheim White House Events Center was built in 1978 and is a one-half scale replica modeled after the original White House in Washington D.C. This is a fun-tastic event and helps to raise funds that supports The Youth Center's many programs. No cost childcare (ages 5-12) is available at The Youth Center for attendees. This makes a great "date night" for those with kids at home too. Find out more and get your tickets here Our Rossmoor. A great place to live since 1957
