Hi It looks like we will have beautiful upper 70's for the weekend followed by mid-70's days for most of next week, including Halloween
on Monday. Tomorrow will be a prefect time to stop by the Rossmoor Farmers Market and get some fresh food, visit with your neighbors or maybe both. It's a quick and fun stop every Thursday afternoon. Shredding & Drug Take Back - Saturday @ Rush Bring your shredding to our free quarterly shredding event on Saturday, October 29th at Rush Park. We'll be there from 8:00 until noon. hope to see you
there so you can be rid of all those documents you want to shred before the holidays arrive. ALSO, the OCSD will be holding a "Drug Takeback" Event on 10/29 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Rush Park. So if you have any unwanted or expired medication or drugs, you can drop them off
after you drop off your shredding. The Drug Takeback is no questions asked, but they cannot accept sharps. Did you see this? Exciting News - The Youth Center has pulled permits for their new home! Congratulations to Lina, Maryam, and the whole team at The Youth Center on this monumental step
forward for our community and most importantly, our kids! More information here

Halloween on Monday - Be Safe Yes, Halloween is coming up on Monday. Yes, you’ve heard all the safety advice and cautions before. And, still, this
scary fact is true: On average, children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the yearSo here are the Safe Kids Worldwide Halloween Safety Tips brochure, and some tips to keep in mind as Monday approaches: Walk Safely - Cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks.
- Look left, right, and left again when crossing, and keep looking as you cross.
- Put electronic devices down and keep heads up and walk, don’t run, across the street.
- Teach children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.
- Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as
possible. Children should walk on direct routes with the fewest street crossings.
- Watch for cars that are turning or backing up. Teach children to never dart out into the street or cross between parked cars.
Drive Extra Safely on Halloween - Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited about Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.
- Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians, and on curbs.
- Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.
- Eliminate any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate on the road and your
surroundings.
- Drive slowly, anticipate heavy pedestrian traffic and turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.
- Popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. so be especially alert for kids
during those hours
Reminder Signs Popping Up All Over |
True to their word, OC Public Works has been adding these No Parking reminder signs to blocks throughout the neighborhood. We are fortunate to have such a high-quality, responsive, and conscientious Public Works Department working on our
behalf. These new signs are
placed at the beginning of each block (intersection) for that side of the street. This first wave of signs appears to be in the north part of the tract, but there are signs installed on parts of Tucker and other more southern areas as well. You can expect signs like these to be installed on your block within the next few weeks. In total there will be 400-500 of these reminder signs installed in Rossmoor to help us all remember which specific days we need to remove our vehicles (and waste carts) from the street.
