Today's Tip: Be prepared.
This is going to be a bit different than my usual Parenting Tips.
Today's tip is to tell you that if you ever need to contact Microsoft for support,
make sure you do it on something portable.
For some unknown reason, Microsoft refunded my subscription a month and a half after I had paid. I was unable to access certain things, couldn't download/upload certain things, and had no idea why.
You can not call a help number - it directs you to their online helpdesk.
I was 32nd in line when I logged on. I anticipated a wait and got busy doing other things while "keeping the window active and open" so I did not miss my turn.
5 1/2 hours later... Yes. You read that right.
FIVE AND A HALF HOURS later Microsoft helped me.
Both service reps, the one who couldn't help me and the supervisor who did, were professional and kind. We still have no idea why Microsoft refunded the money and declined my account. However, it was an easy fix and for that (and my backups) I am grateful.
Needless to say - I was also grateful that I had logged in on my laptop and could carry it with me as I did other things I needed to do. I am also grateful I had clients who were willing to 'pause' if/when Microsoft responded. Lucky for them, none were interrupted...
Hopefully you will not need to contact Microsoft's online helpdesk. Ever. But if you do, use something portable. It could be a while!
