Reframe
I've talked about this before but it's important to bring up again.
Â
Sometimes we can push ourselves through rough times if we are able to shift our perspective or are able to reframe a situation.
Â
An example of this is when you see loads of laundry piling up. Â
You're tired. Â Maybe even beyond exhausted and have a list a mile long of things to do... Â
Seeing the laundry just makes you feel bad or beat yourself up because it's not done and put away.
Â
If you reframe the situation, you can look at the benefit of being 'able to do' laundry. Â I know this doesn't get the laundry done or make it magically go away! Â
Â
But hear me out. Â
Â
There are some people who don't have a variety of clothing to choose from. Â There are those who have recently lost their homes to floods or fires. Â People who have been displaced and had to evacuate with only what they could carry.
Â
That pile of laundry might not be fun or bring you joy but if you reframe the situation, it might help get you started. Â
You are fortunate to be able to do laundry (having the clothing, having a washing machine, having the water and
electricity to run that washing machine).
Â
And ... if you've been following me for a while - you know I always recommend Taking Care of the Care Taker!
Â
Celebrate or reward yourself for hard work. Â Do something special just for you after doing the laundry. Â
Â
Better yet, do something special just for yourself after getting the laundry started! Â Sometimes that first step is the hardest.
