Use dynamic email content to personalize your greeting, even when you're missing a subscriber’s first name.
Time to complete: Approx. 5 minutes
Hi {{ subscriber.first_name | capitalize() or "friend" }},
Greeting subscribers by their first name helps your emails feel more personal, which can help increase engagement with your emails.
But what happens when you’re missing a subscriber’s first name? How do you personalize your greeting?
Using AWeber’s Dynamic Email Content, you can easily add a subscriber’s first name to your emails, plus create a “fallback” option in
case their first name is missing.
Simply copy the following text and paste it into the body of your email. (Feel free to customize the “Hello” and “friend” parts to whatever you’d like.)
{% raw %}
Hello {{ subscriber.first_name | capitalize() or "friend" }}, {% endraw %} Using this text, the greeting will default to the word "friend" if your subscriber is missing a first name. It will also correct any capitalization mistakes, such as if a subscriber fills out your sign up form using ALL CAPS or all lowercase.
This is just one of the many ways you can use dynamic email content to tailor your messages to each subscriber.
