Hi
My dog is sitting next to my bed and making cute noises so I can wake up.
It's earlier than usual 5:40 am.
I take him to the garden so he can do his business.
6:30am
I climb back in bed trying to go back to sleep. My eyes are shut but my mind is awake.
I start talking to Jesus asking him to guide me on what I need to work on this week as I am not sure where to start.
My mind drifts to a to-do notebook I bought a couple of weeks ago that I’ve not used yet.
Images of the gym come up but I choose to ignore that & ask Jesus to guide me regarding my ministry.
The vision Jesus has given me for my ministry is very different to what I am currently doing and I have no idea how to get there yet.
As I ask for guidance, the Spirit of God guides me. I am reminded me of a situation in Jesus’ ministry.
Mark 4:35-41
35 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”
36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). 37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.
38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”
39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”
As you go to the next chapter, you realise why Jesus wants to go the other side.
The reason he is going to this destination is to help a man who had no one to help him.
You can read the man’s story in Mark 5:1-20
Today, marketing gurus tell you to choose that one ideal client.
But the one who started it all was Jesus.
His focus was always to go looking for that one person who needed Him (most of them were not even aware they needed Him and others had no one to turn to but Him.)
A woman who lived in shame.
A paralysed man who had no one to take him to the water that could heal him.
A Fisherman who needed the money but could not catch any fish inspire of all his efforts
A mother mourning the loss of her son and the list goes on...
Jesus always focussed on that one person who needed Him and as a result thousands would follow Him wherever He went.
So, if you are unsure of what to do next in your business/ministry/life, spend a few minutes today asking Jesus, "What do I do in this area, Jesus?"
Sometimes the answer may come right away. You may think of a book or a person or an idea 💡 or even a location; or it could be something totally unrelated like the gym in my case.
If you trust and follow the urge, the guidance, the revelation will follow.
Just noticed I've been writing for almost an hour.
So, here are 3 things to focus on If you are wondering how to grow your ministry/business:
Model Jesus.
1 ) Start with one person at a time. Jesus always looked at helping that one person who was in need of Grace.
2) You may need to go to that person like Jesus did (luckily, you don't have to go physically. You can reach out to them from the comfort of your home sitting in your pj’s - thank you technology.)
3) Expect some storms/setbacks along the way but don't look at the storm instead keep your eye on the vision/guidance God has given you.He will guide you.
Because this is what Scripture says:
“Anyone who believes in Him, will never be disgraced or be put to shame."
I pray that you always have the courage to do what God has called you to do.
