Does Your Pet Suffer from Allergies?

Published: Tue, 04/18/17

Dear Pet Parent,

Did you know approximately 90% of allergy issues for pets under the age of 1 are food related?

This all goes back to gut immunity, genetics and any early exposure to vaccines or chemicals.

Murphy's mom wanted to be careful not to overdose Murphy with vaccines or chemicals, but the breeder gave a 6-1 vaccine and a topical flea, heartworm medication at 6 weeks.

But the vet recommended it....
Most breeders, veterinarians, rescue organizations and humane societies/shelters see this quick dose of chemicals as harmless. However, these early attacks on the immune system can result in many life-long conditions such as:
  • food allergies
  • environmental allergies
  • chronic ear infections
  • chronic gastrointestinal and urinary tract infections
  • other inflammatory conditions that may not present themselves until years down the road
Not all of our clients can protect their pets from these early attacks on the immune system. In fact, most of our patients have been receiving annual vaccines and heartworm, flea and tick preventatives monthly throughout their whole lives.

Gut immunity can help prevent serious complications.
While it isn't always easy, we can strengthen gut immunity and even reverse some of the damage that has been done to the gut and the immune system before serious complications arise such as:
  • chronic skin allergies
  • re-occurring ear infections
  • inflammatory conditions of the digestive tract (IBS)
  • bones and joints (arthritis)
  • degenerative diseases
  • even cancer
If your pet is currently dealing with chronic re-occurring skin infections, ear infections or re-occurring inflammation of any kind, understand that this is just a SYMPTOM of the disease. There is a root cause and allergy testing is an excellent way to begin uncovering triggers of that inflammation.

Care for your pet with one of our two types of food allergy testing:

1. Saliva Testing:
This test evaluates food intolerances through a system that measures Ig A and Ig M antibodies in your pet's saliva. This type of testing provides a list of foods that your pet should AVOID so the food does not become an ALLERGY.

2. Blood Testing:
This test evaluates food allergies by measuring Ig A and Ig G antibodies in the blood stream.  In order for the body to have an Ig A or Ig G antibody to a food, the protein has escaped the gut and is triggering an immune reaction in the bloodstream.

Often times, we use the two tests together to get a complete picture of the foods your pet should avoid. With this important information we work to tailor a specific regiment of herbs, proper diet and/or acupuncture to restore gut health and immune system integrity.
