Water in Abundance: Creating Drought and Flood Proof Farms. Webinar w
Published: Wed, 10/27/21
Greetings ,
Hope your October has been great.
Though many of us in North America have been enjoying the recent bursts of rain, snow and colder weather, it's worth remembering that summer heat is coming for our friends in the the Southern Hemisphere, followed by what's likely to be another record drought year for us.
Water is our most precious resource, but today it is becoming increasingly unpredictable, or scarce. Depending where you live, it may come in extreme downpours or floods, or not at all.
To ensure the stability of today's farms and landscapes, we need to design landscapes that can buffer and benefit from extreme weather events, whether that's floods, extreme downpours, or drought.
In this webinar, Mark Shepard, pioneer of Restoration Agriculture and director of New Forest Farm, will share his experience building farms that are resilient against weather extremes.
Though the webinar won't be Halloween related, I'm personally grateful to see the rains come and the leaves shift into late autumn. Predictable seasons feel increasingly rare and precious these day. A true gift from nature.
I hope we all find the strength and vision to restore our ecosystems, so our grandchildren will know cool autumns and gentle springs.
Have a great week! Happy Halloween, Dia Los Muertos, Samhain, and hope to see you next week.
