The Sustainable Design Masterclass Schedule for October-November+ What Our Friends Are Up To!

Published: Mon, 10/02/17

Hey All,
Neal Spackman here, wanted to thank everyone for reaching out and being so engaged with our classes over the past few months.  In the coming seasons, we’re looking to bring you a whole lot more face to face learning from Regenerative Farmers, Entrepreneurs, and Ecosystem Restoration Champions.

Here’s a sample of what we have planned through November.

Oct. 12: Erik Olsen, founder of Permaculture Artisans and the Permaculture Skills Center.  Erik got his start as an environmental activist who decided that he could make a difference as a business owner.  Permaculture Artisans is a landscaping firm in Sonoma County, CA that he grew from scratch to a 7 figure business.  If you want to make Permaculture your profession, come join and learn what it takes from Erik.
November 2: Rebecca Burgess, the founder of Fibershed.  Fibershed has launched a new partnership with North Face and Bare Ranch in California to create a beanie with regenerative roots--wool sourced exclusively from ranches and farms that manage their animals in a way that builds soil and increases soil carbon.  To see the beanie and learn more, check it out here and don't miss the webinar with Rebecca!
Nov. 23: Brad Lancaster, Author of Rainwater Harvesting for Drylands & Beyond.  Brad's books are a fundamental resource and something I consulted a lot when I was getting started in Saudi Arabia.  His expertise has taken him all over the planet, but also super cool:  Brad was able to change Tucson's city regulations about harvesting rainwater by changing local culture towards rainfall and urban design.
TBA- Kay Baxter, Founder of Koanga Institute.

What some of our friends are up to/events happening.

Matt Powers- For those of you who enjoyed the work of Matt Powers and want to learn more from him, he's on the last 40 hours of his Kickstarter Campaign for The Advanced Permaculture Student Online.  In recent years, Matt has been breaking ground by releasing several Permaculture textbooks and courses for Homesteaders and Gardeners, so if you like what Matt is teaching and want to get in on his new course at an early rate, check out the Kickstarter!

Also, we are opening Matt’s webinar on Low Stress/High Yield Garden Design for free till Sunday for those who want to start using some of Matt’s homesteading lessons right now.
For those of you in Northern California this weekend (10/6-10/9), there’s also a few cool Permaculture events happening.

The Norcal Permaculture Convergence
the Norcal Permaculture Convergence is happening this weekend (October 6-9) in Hopland, CA.  They’ll have topics and workshops ranging from Ocean Farming to Social Design.  If anyone wants to attend, you can use a 20% off discount with the promo code COMMUNITYBUILDER. Look out for Raleigh because he’ll be there.

The Hoes Down Harvest Festival
If you’re looking for another Regen-Ag gathering, the Hoes Down Harvest Festival will be happening October 7-8 at Full Belly Farm in Yolo County, California. Should be a great opportunity to meet some local Regenerative Farmers and be alot of fun. Plus, our buddy Chef Seth Peterson will also be there.

That’s it for now, hope you all have an excellent week, and tune in for more big updates from the Sustainable Design Masterclass.

Keep Designing a better future,
