Webinar Recap:
1. How Biology Guides Succession
Elaine went into the science of how biology affects the stages of plant growth on land. By measuring the ratios of fungi:bacteria on your land, you can find out what stage of succession your soil is at. Succession indicates what plants are supported by the biology on land, whether weeds, vegetables, or mature
trees.
2. How to Boost Crop Yields on Farms, Ranches, Orchards, Special Crops and Forests with Biologically Active Compost.
Elaine showed several examples of
farms, ranches, and forestry systems that were able to massively increase plant growth, yield, profit and health by restoring the soil biology. Specifically, how compost and compost tea boosted each group of crops.
3. A Quick Overview of Compost, Compost Tea and
Microscope Systems.
We did a quick overview of the composting process. What it looks like to go from small scale to large scale, what good compost looks like, how compost tea systems work, and how to measure your biology with a microscope.
4. Case Studies from 2 Farmers that Saved Their Farms and Livelihoods by Restoring the Biology in Their Soil.
We featured Shane Plath, an
organic banana farmer in South Africa who saved his 1500 acre farm with compost and compost tea, and Brian Vagg, a life in the Soil Consultant who converted his 5 acre homestead into a food forest oasis. Both examples are inspiring for anyone wondering how to put this into practice.
