Byron Joel: Restoring Australia's Lost Ecosystems Webinar Replay
Published: Sat, 10/06/18
Hey folks,
On Thursday night, we just had a FASCINATING webinar with Byron Joel. Byron went over the deep ecological history of Australia and its peoples, stretching back to 1.5 million years, and
then forward in time to before the Pleistocene, to before European arrival, and to the present day. These sort of historical perspectives fascinate me, because they show how our landscapes, plants, animals, and humans adapted to and changed the land we live on. Our modern perspectives are so shallow in time that we often have no idea how the ecosystem might have functioned for tens of thousands of years before the current century.
Byron went
over a deep overview how the Aboriginals of Australia adapted and shaped the Australian continent over tens of thousands of years, until colonists arrived and nearly wiped them out, along with the natural ecosystems. Byron's presentation reveals ways we can come to grips with our deep past in Australia and beyond, and rebuild our ecosystems. Click the picture or the button below to watch the
webinar.
If you want to learn more from Byron, you can visit his design Site, Oak Tree Designs, and check out his Ecosystem Restoration Project, called RegenAustralis.
So hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy the autumn weather (or spring in Aus) and we'll announce more exciting developments soon.
