An All New Water Restoration Network + A New Focus for the SDMC
Published: Thu, 02/11/21
Greetings ,
I just wanted to announce some exciting updates about what we're heading into the future.
Over the last few years we've been doing webinars on a wide spectrum of topics in ecosystem restoration and regenerative agriculture, but there are two topics in particular which have captivated me and many of you...and those are soil and water restoration.
Water and Soil are two areas where I believe we can have the greatest impact on the land and restoring or stable ecosystems, which is why we're focusing our attention on these subjects in the coming years.
A New Online Platform for Water Restoration for Your Land and Beyond.
In previous webinars we've done with Brock Dolman, Walther Jehne, and Judith Schwarz, we've seen the potential to restore local ecosystem stability by building water retention
features. The potential is enormous, from reversing drought, to providing ecosystem habitat, climate cooling, and water security on farms and landscapes. That's why I'm excited to announce a new platform I'm building with Elemental Ecosystem's Zach Weiss, which will provide training, education, and fundraising opportunities for building ponds and water features.
Whether you're looking for professional training and opportunities in the field of water restoration, or looking to fund and build your own ponds and water retention landscapes, this platform will help make that happen.
We want to share lessons, stories and training from water stewards around the world who are reversing drought and enriching land. To make that happen, we need your help first. At this stage, we need feedback into the type of stories we should tell, and the priorities of projects we should put our focus into, whether that's online courses, or documentaries, or DIY videos. This feedback will be vital to us and allow us to focus our platform in the coming year.
If you want to help us shape the platform, just click below.
It should only take about 5-10 minutes, but will help us a ton.
I may not have shared this but over the last year I've gone down the rabbit hole of Soil Biology training. This has led me to seek out professional mentorship and apprenticeships in composting and soil consultancy, and refining my at home composting and microscopy to hone these crafts.
Over the next year I hope to share some of the lessons I've learned, and ultimately, show you how to make high quality, high fungal compost, and compost extract.
A New Webinar: Large Scale Vermicomposting
On March 4th, we'll have a special webinar with an SDMC audience member, Francisco Niembro, who runs the largest vermicomposting operation in Mexico, with a weekly capacity of 61 tons of worm compost! It will be a super exciting webinar, and a look into a super-scaled soil operation. Stay tuned for more details.
Have a great week and hope you're on your way to designing your own version of paradise.
