Dear partners and swimming friends,
A few years ago, around this time of year, I was warming up after a dip in
the Thames and said something like:
"This winter swimming isn't so bad."
Another swimmer, with more experience than me, replied:
"I hate to break it to you, but it's not winter yet."
He was right of course. December, January and February tend to be the coldest months in the water. In late November, the water still has some residual warmth from
the summer, albeit not much.
Since then, as we've seen in our regular Attitudes to Outdoor Swimming survey (see below for how to get involved in this year's survey), interest in winter
swimming and its health and wellbeing benefits has ballooned. Consequently, there is a huge appetite for content related to cold water swimming. For example, our recent story on risks, perceptions and benefits in cold water swimming was read more than 2000 times on its first
day on our website.
As temperatures drop further, swimmers will not only be looking for information, they will also want the kit to help them continue swimming safely through
the winter. This includes neoprene accessories, changing robes, tow floats, warm clothes, flasks, woolly hats, hot water bottles and insulated boots.
We have advertising opportunities on our website available throughout the winter to put your brand in front of
swimmers at the time they are actively looking for products to support their passion. In addition, we can help you create advertorial content for even deeper engagement with our audience.
We know times are tough but swimmers are still spending money on their hobby,
especially in the run up to Christmas. We'd love to encourage them to spend it with you.
