Dear
I've been reflecting a lot lately on the sheer volume of information that encourages division in our current reality. It's pretty insidious and at the same time very productive in our collective quest to rise above it.
Right now, no matter what the topic, there is an edgy sensation to the conversation. In almost all interactions there can be an immediate energy that asks " Do you believe what I believe or do you not"?
That edge seems to come from the inner angst of division itself as nobody, regardless of their belief system, enjoys feeling separated. There is a reason for this! We don't like to feel separated because it is the complete antithesis of what we truly are at our core. We really are one.
This is the same reason why humans love community. We love the feeling of togetherness because we crave the reflection of our oneness and we often feel empowered in like-minded groups; however, we can easily be led into a false sense of security when we solely rely on others to tell us who we are or who they think we are meant to
be.
As isolating as it can feel to hold to your own unique knowing, it is here that we get to re-evaluate this reliance. This opportunity shows up every time people who know what you know, do not choose what you choose? Even more challenging, and thus a deeper opportunity, is when someone who you believe is more in the know than you are conflicts
with your choices.
In my world. these are really magical moment because 1) It is bringing to awareness our reliance on others to feel safe in our own choices 2) It gives us an opportunity to re-evaluate what we believe and don't believe 3) and most importantly, it invites us to move back into unity.
By moving back into unity, I do not mean that we choose what another chooses and I do not mean that we stop believing what we believe or try to force another to believe what we do.
By moving into unity, I mean that we see ALL as an integral part of the whole. From this vantage point we have access to seeing each encounter as a gift. Each helps us remember that we too, regardless of our beliefs, are also an integral part of the whole.
If we can, even for a moment, see beyond right and wrong, we open to what lies beyond our perceived separations.
This opening allows something truly miraculous to happen. From here we open to unity. From our unity, we can choose to love anyway. We can agree to see differently, which is actually a mind thing, and choose to love anyway which is a direct reflection of the unity that lies within.
Sure, in some cases it can be very challenging to get to this place. Especially when there are so many attempts to separate, but here’s a little secret, at the end of the day we are the ones recreating this reality and we get to choose if we are creating more separation or if we are ready jump headlong into unity, into love and into a beautiful new world.
Choose what you need to choose for you. Choose it with the conviction of someone taking full responsibility for their own life, let others do the same and then BE love anyway!
