I have more than a few full circle moments since coming to Maine and one of the most significant was a few days ago when I went to meet Riley and his family. It had been 18 years since I worked with him. I only saw Riley for a few short minutes during this visit as he had pulled an "all
nighter" and was sleeping when I arrived.
His mother and father and I had a long chat about the center and what has driven the last 20 years of my life. They had all kinds of contacts and connections for me to make and expressed that they would love to help support this project in anyway they could! They shared some of the highs and lows of Riley's life and said that they know that he is so much more than people perceive him to be.
I'll second that!!!!!
Most importantly, our conversation felt like the completion of a life cycle in someway. Riley had started me off on an amazing journey. He had done his part and I had done mine. The gift of coming together was not by chance and changed each of our lives in very different ways!
Seeing him, even briefly, gave me the opportunity to pause
and reflect on just how much had come out of our connection. I was reminded that my "job", with Riley's help, and the help of the thousands of clients that followed, was to support a shift in consciousness around autism.... To open people to see beyond the perceived disorder to the spiritual giftedness hiding in this population. When I see Awesomism used as a word to describe this population on FB or when I see the amazing work, that so many Awesomism Practitioners are doing in
the world today, I know that we indeed had a hand in shifting the perception of autism to that of Awesomism. I watched Awesomism move into the realms of science with the Autism Intention Experiment and NuTesla technology, as well as into higher education in the form of several dissertations on the philosophy of Awesomism. I've interacted with every profession and system that supports those diagnosed with autism, to one degree or
another.
There are more opportunities to come. I'll be at the Omega Institute in July of 2019 offering the Awesomism Certification Process to a much bigger population than we have been able to reach to date. There is still a strong interest in an Awesomism Center and we are expanding Awesomism into a whole new population of parents through instagram.
After seeing Riley this last time though, it feels like these pieces are all just icing on the cake, as we have done what we were meant to do!
The consciousness of Awesomism has always had legs of its own. I have held on for the ride and I am happy to support it when it needs my support, but at this point it's a mature adult. Just as Riley is now 21, Awesomism knows what it wants and
when it wants it. I like the idea of playing the grandparent role and supporting those who have come through the Awesomism Processes by making people aware of all that they offer. I also love the idea of supporting new families with children on the spectrum as I know that we can change their experience of their children for the better, adding more ease and grace to their lives. I feel very blessed by the opportunities that are offered to me as one of the forerunners in this
powerful shift in awareness regarding autism and hope to use it to bring awareness and support to the next generations.
Love,
Suzy
