Helllo,
This email is more geared to facilities that provide affordable/low income ALF Care.
As many of you are aware there is a shortage of alf beds for low income individuals. The state of Florida continues to turn a blind eye on the situation and continues to not address the issue.
In the mean time seniors are unnecessary forced into long hospital stays and eventually into unsafe discharges to transitional homes, back home and even unlicensed facilities. These resident's eventually end back in the hospital shortly and the pattern continues to repeat over and over.
The problem is not that there are not enough alf beds in general however the cost of caring for low income individuals is not sustainable at such low rates. ALF's are choosing to have empty beds over filling them with low income resident's and provide services and care for relatively free once all the expenses are calculated.
Without proper data and documentation of the bad situations that seniors are being forced into the state will continue to look away and not take any action.
I would like to collect the needed data.I have put together a email list that will send you a email once a week requesting your bed availability.
If your Alf accepts residents with income between $1,400 and below please join the mailing list.
Once the list is established I will be adding a page where case workers and placement professionals can submit a intake form for residents they can not find placement due to budget. Click To Report Open Beds
If your alf charges $1,400-below please register!
Take Care
