Hey it's Keith Kravitz with you latest helicopter tour update!
Travel season is officially going full bore at Las Vegas and the South Rim.
Sure, COVID got us off to a rocky start, but when it's all said and done, I suspect we are going to have a pre-pandemic year in terms of the number of people who have a) visited either rim and b) who took a helicopter tour to the Canyon.
Sunset Tours
There's something you need to be aware of: flights are selling out. In particular, the sunset bottom landing picnic tour from Las Vegas. This one is "unavailable" weeks in advance. If you are serious about booking it, you need to buy it three weeks ahead of time. RSVP now.
Skywalk
The Skywalk is simply bustling and the
reviews I've been getting are super positive. The only caveat about this place is when to do it. I always recommend in the a.m. because the West Rim is HOT. Final note: No, you can't take pictures while on the Skywalk. I hate this condition. But that's how it is. Fortunately, there are photographers who will take your picture for you. Read Skywalk FAQ.
Air-Only (No Landing)
I've been getting a ton of people asking for the cheapest tour available. They must be spending more in Vegas on food, drink and gaming than on attractions. Hey, whatever floats your boat. In this situation, I recommend taking the air-only flight. It's the cheapest option but, man, you get to see a lot of stuff. More info here.
Champagne Picnic
The #1 most popular tour is still the bottom-landing Champagne Picnic tour. I've been waiting for another trip to de-throne it but clearly that's not going to happen. What makes it so popular? Value! This tour combines flying over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and the Colorado River w/ a bottom-landing. Moreover, the tour is only available from Las Vegas and going below the rim can only
happen at the West Rim. Try it here.
Las Vegas Airplanes
FYI - Yes, we are operating airplane tours but with a limited fleet and limited seats. The Skywalk airplane is getting most of the attention. It's followed by the 4-in-1 package (airplane, helicopter, boat and Skywalk). I'm expecting more plane tours to come onboard as we get deeper into summer and I'll update.
South
Rim
This Rim is located in Arizona in Tusayan, AZ, and 60 miles north of Williams and Flagstaff, AZ. Note that NO helicopters are allowed to fly below the rim and land here. Not much of an issue because this 50-minute tour this heli-Jeep package are awesome.
Tips
To get the max out of your tour, plan for it. Earlier, I said that tours are selling out weeks in advance. Take that to heart and learn how if you RSVP you save money, too. And please be prepared for weather, regardless if winter, spring, summer or fall. Specifically, dress like this and DON'T book a tour during
this time of day.
