The
Grand Canyon is a spectacular place no matter when you get here. You just gotta do it. One of the things I like to do when visiting
South Rim is take a walk down Bright Angel Trail. Keep in mind: it takes twice as long to
walk up as it does down. Consider that as you prepare, and make sure you bring water! Now, as you make your way into the Big Ditch, it's not uncommon to step aside and let a mule train pass. No worries. These mules are plenty familiar with people and do the trip nearly daily to and from Phanton Ranch at the bottom. Many ask about the mule tours and if you want one you'll probably have to reserve at least a year in advance. Yes, they're popular. Fortunately, there are other options when visiting
South Rim and they include
helicopter and
airplane tours. Starting from Las Vegas? No worries. We got you covered with
these terrific options including the famous
bottom-landing picnic tour.
