Antelope Canyon is near Page, AZ, which is about a 2-hour drive northeast from the South Rim as well as Flagstaff. If camped out in Williams, add an hour on top that. Antelope is also known as a slot canyon. It took a millennia of seasonal flood waters to carve it out of red sandstone. It's also situated on the Navajo Indian reservation, the largest land area (27K square miles!) retained by an indigenous people in the US. Unfortunately, COVID struck the reservation hard and
access is super limited or not available at all. I'll update as the situation opens up but I anticipate it being very very gradual. Back at South Rim, it's 100 percent open. Tours offered include
helicopter,
airplane and
Jeep. I recommend the
50-minute helicopter ride as it covers nearly 75 percent of the National Park. Then there's the
helicopter-Jeep combo, which is great for folks who want a terrific air-ground combo. Remember: after you book your tour, email me your reservation number and I'll verify
you and send you the South Rim Guide and Map for your phone (very useful!). Until next time - Keith, Grand Canyon Helicopters.
