Hey it's Keith Kravitz and here's another addition of helicopter weekend update!
As I write this, the Monsoon has finally arrived, bringing with it much cooler temperatures. I hope it keeps up. The Canyon and the desert and the the southwest in general need rain and this is a major source of it. Keep the Monsoon in mind as you plan and bookmark this quick blogpost on National Park weather.
Meantime, tour bookings are seriously HEATING UP. Certain flights are selling out while others are getting harder to come by, especially if you are a group of two or more people. I'm also noticing that certain departure times are now unavailable, which isn't overly surprising given summer conditions.
Further:
If you are driving up to the South Rim from Sedona, give yourself ample time to get to here. Traffic will be thick as there are a lot of people from Phoenix coming up to Flagstaff and beyond. I wish we had a flight that originated from Phoenix but as of yet it's not confirmed. Stay tuned.
FRONT SEATS
Getting lots of inquiries about front seats, too. Folks, seats are never guaranteed because nobody knows who is going to be on what aircraft until check-in. That said, you can REQUEST front seats (max. 2 seats) at time of booking. If you're offered them at check-in and say "yes," you will be charged $50 per upgrade. If you say "no," you will not be charged. Here's more info about front seat upgrades.
SUNDOWNER
One tour that's getting a lot of attention is the sunset tour from Las Vegas. These are super limited because they depart once a day. They go over all the key landmarks and land at the bottom. It's the fly back that's at dusk and you'll be taking a tour over the Vegas Strip as the lights turn on.
SIN CITY
The air-only flight from Vegas is ideal for travelers on a tight budget or who have limited time. The follow the standard flight path and include terrific views of the National Park. There are two versions. The basic, which is cheapest, and the deluxe, which is more expensive.
SKYWALK OPTIONS
Our Skywalk selection keeps getting bigger! Of course, there's the trusty bus to the West Rim. But why drive when you can opt for either the plane or the deluxe helicopter ride? No matter which, you're gonna get there!
SOUTH RIM
Hands down the best South Rim flight is the 50-minute deluxe. This terrific tour flies over the South Rim, East Rim, North Rim and back. In all, you'll have see up to 75 percent of the Canyon. That's no small feat considering it takes upwards of 5 hours to get to the North Rim from the South Rim by car!
SOUTH RIM REDUX
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the helicopter plus Jeep package. Love this one and so do all my clients. Combines a 30-minute flight with a 2.5-hour 4x4 Jeep trip. Sunset upgrade available, too. If on a super-strict budget, then get yourself this heli
ride.
