Do you ever wish it was easier to get what your child deserves at school?  If so, keep reading.

Let’s face it, trying to understand this whole special education process can be daunting.

You may have learned the hard way that just going along with what the school suggests is not going to help your child much.

You also know how many hours it can take to do your own research on the internet and then wondering if what you’re reading is reliable or not.

You may have reached a point where you knew you had to start doing something different, because what you are doing isn’t working.

It makes a huge difference when you understand how to make sure your input gets written in the IEP.

Your child’s life at school will change when he/she has a strengths-based IEP instead of one that only focuses on his/her deficits.

When you know several ways to advocate for your child to be included in general education classrooms more, your child wins.

I’ve had parents thank me for writing my book, having the weekly FB live shows, and working with them 1 on 1 when they needed advocacy help.

I’ve also had parents want to know how else they can learn more about the special ed. process, how to know what they can say at IEP meetings, what to do when the staff says their child isn’t ready to be in general education classes.

So, based on parent feedback, I’ve designed an online class when you can go in when you have time and get the information you need at that particular time.

There are seven modules in the class, Advocacy Tools You NEED In Your Tool Box.

Many parents don’t go back to read their child’s final IEP to know what really got written in it.

Yes, they may have given some parent input and ask for different goals or to change the wording of how the services are going to be delivered – but if none of that wound up in writing in the IEP – you have nothing to hold the school accountable for.
We’re going to be concentrating on 5 major areas of the IEP: Present Levels, Goals/Objectives, Accommodations/Modifications, Services and Supports, Least Restrictive Environment.

If you know what is suppose to be written in each of those sections, how specifically it needs to written so it is truly individualized, you child is on his/her way to having a much more successful school year.
We going to have fun learning about the 9 different types of intelligences and figuring out which type of intelligence your child uses the most and which one he/she uses the least.

This new information will transform your child’s IEP into being a Strengths-Based IEP rather than one that focuses on your child’s deficits.

With a Strengths-Based IEP your child can actually spend time at school learning new skills by having the teachers build on his/her strengths.
When you have vague IEP goals and objectives, everyone interprets them a different way and you never know what your child is really working on.  Without a road map and clear goals chances are your child will make little progress.

Our fourth module will be all about writing meaningful and understandable goals so your child is consistently working on what he/she needs to work on and really making progress.
Do you know if the accommodations and modifications in your child’s IEP just come from computer program or a generic checklist?

Do you ever hear back from teachers which accommodations they used, and which ones work and don’t work?  Or does the list of accommodations and modifications just stay pretty much the same year after year?

In the fifth module we’re going to focus on writing specific accommodations and modifications based on the type of intelligence you child uses the most.

This will take your child’s Strengths–Based IEP into action so he/she is motivated and engaged to do his/her school work.
When your child’s label drives what class he/she’s going to be in, that’s a problem.

In this module we’ll look at how we can help staff understand that their services and supports can be brought to your child, instead of making your child go to them.

When we try and change our school systems, one child at a time it takes forever to make system change. Yes, you can be blazing a trail, but guess what, it grows over very fast.

So in this module we’ll look at 9 ways that you can help make positive change for your child by not trying to do everything alone.
