Thanks for opening up this edition of the Friday Four. Let's get things started by sharing a blog post I published nearly six years ago that continues to stand up well today: - Sometimes The Customer is Wrong - If you run a gym long enough, you're eventually going to have a one of your regulars tell you "this place just isn't the same as it used to be." This post shares my thoughts on that
feedback.
My Friday FOUR: Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring
you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy: - 5 Ways to Survive & Thrive When The CEO is The Problem - In the 12+ years I've known my wife,
I've seen her work for a handful of different tech companys, one of which was led by a toxic CEO. This person appeared to be doing their best to tank the operation on a daily basis, and the tips shared in this article could have been especially helpful to her had it been published during that stage in her career.
- The Tim
Ferriss Show: James Clear - This is a beefy (2+ hours) podcast episode where Tim interviews James Clear, primarily focusing on lessons shared in Atomic Habits. I'd suggest you listen to it all, but if you're strapped for time, jump to the 40-ish minute mark and listen to the ten minutes where they discuss the dangers of attaching your earning potential to a single social media
platform.
- 5 Priceless Lessons for First-Time Entrepreneurs - While I was in lock-step with this author from lesson one through lesson five, I want to
emphasize just how important I believe the final lesson to be. Her suggestion that we founders create goals to chase outside of our business resonated with me, as my out-of-office interests are what allow me to show up re-energized every Monday here at CSP.
- Mark Fisher's Book of Fitness Business Secrets - I read every single email Mark Fisher sends from start-to-finish, despite the fact that I speak with him every week on Zoom calls, podcasts, and via text message. His message never gets old to me, and that's partially because I'm a fan of his copywriting skills. Grab a copy of his new book and I promise you'll come away with a ton of notes and new ideas.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend. - Pete
