Thanks for opening up this edition of the Friday Four. Let's get things started by sharing a recent podcast episode that I recorded with my buddies Mark Fisher and John Franklin:
- The "Business Guy" Behind Cressey Sports Performance - This was my first appearance on the always entertaining Gym World Worldwide podcast, and it was every bit the pleasure I expected it to be. The guys forced
me to go deep on my thoughts relating to content creation, understanding your zone of genius, and more.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think
differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- A Playbook for Driving
Viral Demand - I find Crocs to be comfortable, but brutally unattractive. This is exactly why I found this article about how a marketing executive in their operation systemized his approach to putting them on the feet of influencers who had already demonstrated an appreciation for the product.
- Science Says You're More Productive in the Early Morning. Here's Why - Many of the reasons outlined here for improved early morning productivity seem like common sense, but that doesn't decrease their importance. This article will
help you understand why setting your alarm 30-60 minutes earlier than usual can improve your focus, nutrition, and exercise habits. Kudos to this author for also going into detail on a number of reasons why early starts aren't necessarily a great idea for everyone.
- Kids' Brutally Honest Lawn Mowing Business Sign Shows the True Art of Setting
Boundaries - If we all took advice from these kids we'd stop making the mistake of assuming that our buyers want us to be gentle with them at the expense of clarity in the service model.
- TKP Insights: Leadership
(podcast) - This episode of The Knowledge Project was essentially a greatest hits of leadership insights from their extensive podcast archives. I pulled my car over twice in one ride to the gym to write down quotes specifically from the Jim Collins portion of the episode.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any
material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
