Happy Nurses Week, ,
Every year Nurses Week is celebrated from May 6-May 12th. Do you know why the profession celebrates at this week? Because Florence Nightingale's birthday is on May 12 and this year she would have been 199 year's old!
There are 4 million nurses in the United States. Nurses serve their patients and their families, the community, their healthcare colleagues, and their organizations with great skill, compassion, and leadership. Every year for almost two decades, nurses have been identified as the most trusted profession in the country. It is an honor to serve patients at their beginnings and endings and at all phases of their lives.
Upholding the public's trust as knowledgeable, ethical, and caring professionals is something to which every nurse strives.
The first post of May is publishing tomorrow and is all about, you guessed it, National Nurses Week. Info on how nurses week got started, how nurses are celebrated in the U.S. and other countries, as well as some ideas for showing appreciation are shared. Check out the post. If you'd like to share how your institution and country celebrates nursing excellence, please post a comment on the blog post.
Happy Nurses Week, . I hope you are appreciated for the value you bring every day!
